About Phyllis Hemann |
|
Phyllis Hemann grew up reading and telling stories. As a child, she scribbled poems with crayons and pencils. Now she writes her own tales for children and adults.
She studied creative writing in graduate school, along with liberal arts and theology -- to become part writer, part teacher and part journalist. She left her career in newspaper and publishing due to a devastating illness, which turned into a chronic journey. Since she could never stop writing, she focused on her own creative work.
Her creative and editorial pieces have appeared in newspapers, journals, magazines and anthologies. She is the author of THE INVISIBLE HEROINE (Finishing Line Press).
While her love of literature is key, she is also an accomplished potter and rosary maker. When not writing, she dabbles in other creative mediums including photography, illustration, jewelry and dog training. She lives in Arkansas with her family and their goofy dog. |

About Phyllis Hemann's Writing |
Ever since I was a child, I loved to scribble my thoughts onto paper. Throughout my life the page drew me in like the tugging of an ocean tide - a strength of desire that I could not ebb.
I write what inspires me, which means I write a lot - poems, short stories, novels, screenplays, articles, advertising copy, jokes, HTML code, headlines, federal grants - you name it, I've probably written it.
It's hard to me to say I prefer any one type of writing. I love them all for different reasons. I am partial to poetry, screenwriting, picture books, middle grade and young adult fiction/nonfiction (to name a few).

Fun Facts About Phyllis Hemann |
 |
I'm crazy about animals. If I could sew, I'd make t-shirts for dogs (because who can get a shirt on a cat)! I'm a dog-training expert by default, because we have a bossy mini Aussie with a heart of gold. He's a Canine Good Citizen and an AKC Trick Dog. While I don't design pet wear, my dog models it on Instagram (@pup2prince). And yes, he has more followers than me!
I'm a bit of a (okay, a big) techno fangirl. I love comics, cartoons, science fiction, fantasy and reality (actual and television). Oh, and I'm a gamer - that is all. (Animal Crossing and Mario Kart rule! Yes, I did just say that) ;)
I once had an ongoing love affair with Chuckie Cheese. |
